Top Cakes & Baked Goodies for Diwali celebrations

Whether you’re going eco-friendly and not bursting crackers, or whether its a card party at your house, you can up the notch on your celebration with some cake or chocolates! Cakesicles and chocolates make for great gifting options for your loved ones too, and you can get a little bit of everything with custom made Diwali hampers too. Every year, we see home bakers coming out with new types of goodies, ranging from chocolates with cracker wrappers to Mehendi done on cookies using royal icing. 1. Cupcakes with Indian motifs

Get any cupcake flavour you want - chocolate if that is the only flavour you love to eat or experiment with some fusion flavours like gulab jamun or ras malai. The buttercream frosting will be done without too much of a design, it will be simple so that the designs can be placed on it. The designs can be Mehendi designs, diyas, patakas or even cards. This can be done with fondant; fondant will be the easiest way to do it. If you would prefer to avoid fondant, you could get it done with stiff buttercream icing too.

2. Paan flavoured macarons

One of the many variants of fusion desserts that have been a huge hit throughout the year, these macarons will be light and crispy but also flavoured with the most desi thing possible. The best part about this is that you can tell your baker how strong you want the flavour to be, and even request that some tidbits of actual paan are added into the filling. It makes for a regal looking dessert to be served at your party, or even for a gift to your loved ones.

Layered cake with cards and poker chips

Imagine this - you are throwing a Diwali bash for your friends and family, and you know you’re going to be playing cards and wagering bets all night. What would make a better centrepiece for this party but a nice layered cake with lifelike cards and poker chips on the cake? Get it with a golden drip or with gold foil placed around the cake to add a festive touch, or get it in colours that are reminiscent of Diwali for you. Cakesicles with Diwali themed designs

Similar to the cupcakes, the Cakesicles can be customized right from flavour to the designs you put on it. Rangoli inspired designs and diyas are the most sought after. You can even do simple designs like a marble finish or ombre finish on your Cakesicles finished off with some golden foil on top. Flavours can also be simple vanilla or something Indian dessert-inspired like ras malai.

Rasmalai Cake

One of the flavours that have truly gone viral over the past two years or so, this is a perfect addition to a festive dinner or for any other ceremony you have. It is so simple yet so flavourful, and usually comprises of a ras malai soaked sponge, fresh cream and pistachios and other nuts on top. Rasmalais are also put in between the layers and on top, and it makes for such a delightful dessert. It is not as sweet as eating ras malai alone, and the interplay of textures in the cake makes it such a treat that you don’t want to stop eating it.

Gulab Jamun Cheesecake

Another fusion dessert, this one may be a little harder to do at home but is one of the tastiest desserts of all time. It truly trumps eating gulab jamun alone or with vanilla ice cream. It is usually a cookie base or crust, cheesecake with gulab jamun flavouring and even bits of gulab jamun, and once baked, it is topped with dry fruits, nuts and some gulab jamuns. This will definitely be a dessert that you will want to order again!
