India Bake Show 23 Bengaluru Competition

How to register for India Bake Show 23 (Bengaluru) Competition?

  1. Read the rules listed below for the India Bake Show Competition.
  2. Register your entry by clicking on the "Register Now" button
  3. Bring your creation to the show's first day - 1st September 2023, and set up by 10 am at the MLR Convention Centre, JP Nagar, Bengaluru.

Cake Competition Rules

Please refer to the end of the page for GENERAL Competition Rules and Regulations for ALL categories.

CATEGORY: Decorated Showpiece (Theme - Kids Sugar Wonderland) - Cash Prize ₹40,000

  1. Your entry can be a sculpted/carved cake or a structural cake.
  2. Your decorated showpiece will be meant for display dedicated to the enchanting theme of Sugar Wonderland. Unleash your creativity by portraying any beloved character or scene from a kid's movie or their everyday life.
  3. The exhibit may be of any shape and design. It can be a single piece, a group, or a unique design if it fits the permissible size.
  4. The exhibit can comprise a carved cake, styrofoam, internal structure, or Rice Krispies covered with sugar paste, royal icing, buttercream, fresh cream, or chocolate. Non-edible items cannot exceed 50% of the overall exhibit.
  5. All decorations should be handmade and edible. The usage of real fresh flowers is not allowed.
  6. NO use of lights is allowed on the cake. However, the entry will be DISQUALIFIED if any inedible material is exposed.
  7. The use of floral wires has to be sealed /masked. Floral wires should not be inserted directly into the cakes (insert into straws or floral picks). A tiny part of the straw/pick should be seen outside.
  8. The Cake board should not exceed 20 inches x 20 inches. Height should not exceed 4.5 feet.
  9. Progress pictures must be provided as proof of your work and internal structure. Any new techniques developed shown in the progress pictures will be judged accordingly.
  10. A photograph of your inspirations AND a brief write-up/description of the cake, your inspiration etc. (limited to 100 words only) should be displayed beside your cake.
  11. Judges reserve the right to insert a needle or skewer into the showpiece if edible elements are deemed questionable.
  12. Judging parameters: Creativity, Development of the new idea, Visual Impact, Workmanship, Degree of Difficulty, Proportion, Balance and Color. Taste is not a criterion for this category.
  13. Prizes: Winners - Cash Prize of ₹25,000 and Runner-up - Cash Prize of ₹12,500.

CATEGORY: Wedding Cakes - Cash Prize ₹40,000

  1. The wedding cake must be at least three (3) tiers and a minimum of 2.5 feet high from the base of the cake, including the topper. If a topper is included, this will be included in the overall height requirement—no height restrictions.
  2. Dummies and dummy spacers are permitted.
  3. The cake and spacers must be covered with sugar paste, Royal Icing, chocolate or any edible medium.
  4. All flowers, if any, must be handmade/edible. Any commercially made flowers will be judged accordingly.
  5. Floral wires should not be inserted directly into the cakes (insert straws or floral picks).
  6. Cake boards should be covered, and the ribbon is permitted on cake drums only.
  7. The base must not exceed 20 inches x 20 inches.
  8. Judging parameters: Creativity, Development of a new idea, Visual Impact, Workmanship, Degree of Difficulty, Proportion, Balance and Color.

CATEGORY: Celebrations Cake (Theme - Kids Sugar Wonderland) - Cash Prize ₹15,000

  1. Your celebration cake must reflect any celebration occasion dedicated to the enchanting theme of Sugar Wonderland. Unleash your creativity by portraying any beloved character or scene from a kid's movie or their everyday life.
  2. All cakes must be edible and draped either in fondant, whipped cream, buttercream or Ganache. Judges reserve the right to insert a needle or skewer into the showpiece if edible elements are deemed questionable.
  3. Styrofoam/Thermocol may be used when necessary and in a small percentage. The description should mention where the styrofoam/non-edible medium is used and the need for using the same.
  4. Entirely edible decorations would get more weightage.
  5. No inedible material should be exposed. Your entry will be DISQUALIFIED if any inedible material is exposed.
  6. NO use of inedible decoration/lights is allowed.
  7. Adult/Naughty cakes are strictly NOT allowed and will be disqualified. Organiser's/Judge's decision will be final, and no reasoning will be entertained.
  8. The Cake board should not exceed 14 inches x 14 inches. Height should not exceed 4.5 feet.
  9. Judging parameters: Creativity, Development of the new idea, Visual Impact, Workmanship, Degree of Difficulty, Proportion, Balance and Color. Taste is not a criterion for this category.
  10. Prizes: Winners - Cash Prize of ₹7,500 and Runner-up - Cash Prize of ₹5,000.

CATEGORY: Decorated Cupcakes (Theme - Sugar Wonderland) - Cash Prize ₹15,000

  1. Display must include a minimum of six (6) individually decorated 100% edible cupcakes with edible decorations dedicated to the enchanting theme of Sugar Wonderland. Unleash your creativity by portraying any beloved character or scene from a kid's movie or their everyday life. Dummies are not permitted for cupcakes.
  2. The cupcakes can be decorated with sugar paste, Royal Icing, chocolate or any edible medium.
  3. Non-edible decorations are not permitted.
  4. Only one common recipe should be used on all cupcakes.
  5. Any decorative topper should be less than the diameter of the cupcake.
  6. Stands are permitted to display the cupcakes.
  7. All sized cupcakes except giant/jumbo-sized ones are to be displayed.
  8. If you plan to use a Cake board to display your cupcakes, it should be covered, and the ribbon is permitted on cake drums only.
  9. The base area of the six cupcakes for the display must not exceed 12 inches x 12 inches.
  10. Judging parameters: Individual cupcake decoration, the overall presentation, creativity, development of a new idea, visual impact, quality and degree of difficulty.
  11. Prizes: Winners - Cash Prize of ₹7,500 and Runner-up - Cash Prize of ₹5,000.

CATEGORY: Floral Arrangement - Cash Prize ₹15,000

  1. An arrangement of a minimum of 10 full-bloom sugar flowers (created using sugar flower paste only) to be put on display.
  2. The floral arrangement can have only berries, fruits, and foliage (created using sugar flower paste).
  3. The flowers and foliage may be wired, including stamens, floral tape, ribbons or thread.
  4. The base, including the stand or containers, must not exceed 16 inches x 16 inches.
  5. There are no height restrictions.
  6. Using non-edible bases, vases, containers, wires, stamens, floral tape, ribbons, etc., is permitted. But non-edible beads, diamantes and diamonds are not allowed.
  7. A photo of the real flower, the name of the flowers, AND a brief write-up/description of your inspiration etc. (limited to 100 words only) should be displayed next to your display for Judges.
  8. Judging parameters: Creativity, Development of a new idea, Visual Impact, Workmanship, Degree of Difficulty, Proportion, Balance and Color.
  9. Prizes: Winners - Cash Prize of ₹7,500 and Runner-up - Cash Prize of ₹5,000.

CATEGORY: Rustic Cakes - Cash Prize ₹15,000

  1. It's your signature rustic cake - the recipe that never lets you down, and you do best.
  2. A minimum of 1 kg should be displayed. The cake or loaf shouldn't be cut into pieces. However, if the inner layers must be displayed, one part of the cake can be cut and kept aside.
  3. The baseboard should not exceed 10 inches x 10 inches.
  4. This category will only be judged on taste, texture, moistness, and ingredients.
  5. The use of real flowers and leaves is allowed. The real flowers and leaves must be safe, edible, and free from chemicals and pesticides. Some flowers are toxic/poisonous and not fit for consumption.
  6. Decoration elements in this category will NOT be judgement criteria, although neatness and presentation are expected.
  7. Use of commercial pre-mixes, improvers etc., is NOT ALLOWED.
  8. Recipe to be displayed beside your bake for judging. The recipes will be removed once the judging gets over. The recipe MUST include complete step-by-step directions, listing each ingredient, including garnishes. Please mention whether the bake is with egg or eggless.
  9. Judging parameters: Taste, texture, moistness, ingredients used and presentation/plating.
  10. Prizes: Winners - Cash Prize of ₹7,500 and Runner-up - Cash Prize of ₹5,000.

GENERAL Competition Rules and Regulations for ALL categories:

  1. Only two entry per person per category is allowed.
  2. This is a kid-friendly event.
  3. All categories are open to ALL (Advanced or Intermediate level Bakers, Cake Artists and Chefs).
  4. Preparation: CAKE SHOULD BE PREPARED and/or DECORATED AT HOME. It is a DISPLAY-ONLY Competition.
  5. Participants cannot show their exhibits, at any stage, on any social media or websites until judging is completed.
  6. Judges can disqualify entries if any rule is breached.
  7. All entries must be the bonafide work of the individual who has entered.
  8. No electric point will be provided.
  9. The registration fee is non-refundable. Once registered, the amount can't be refunded under any circumstances (unless the event is preponed, postponed or cancelled).
  10. Closing Date: The closing date for all entries is 25th August 2023. Last-minute entries will be subject to space availability and ease of arrangements. Kindly confirm your registration with us before beginning work on your entry.
  11. Delivery of entries: All exhibits must be presented at the time and day specified.
  12. Timing: The event starts at 9:00 AM on 1st September 2023. Bring your creation on 1st September 2023, and set it up by 10 am at the MLR Convention Centre, JP Nagar, Bengaluru.
  13. Entries for all categories except the Rustic cake must be displayed for three days. Therefore, kindly use the ingredients accordingly. ALL edible entries (Celebrations cake, Rustic cake) to the Competition will be given to the Charity Partner for a Social Cause at the end of day 1.
  14. Set up time: Each participant will register on arrival and be allocated space to position their exhibits. Each participant will be given 45 minutes to repair and arrange their exhibit for any damages incurred in transit. Participants can start setting up their Cakes by 9 AM. The cake display should be ready by 10 AM sharp. Entries beyond 10 AM won't be allowed for extra set-up time. We will not be able to assist with the cake setup. You can bring one assistant to help you set up the cake.
  15. Do not use any ADULT/NAUGHTY/POLITICAL/anything that can hurt public sentiment elements in your creation. Organiser's/Judge's decision will be final, and no reasoning will be entertained.
  16. No names or advertising will be allowed on the table before judging.
  17. Judging: Judging will take place once all the exhibits are ready.
  18. Anonymous judging will be done by a panel of the country's and the city's top Bakers, Cake Artists and Pastry Chefs unbiasedly.
  19. Judges and Homebakers.co.in the decision will be final.
  20. Results will be announced on the same day.
  21. Cash or equivalent prizes will be announced for Winner and Runner-up, along with a trophy. Gift hampers/ prizes cannot be redeemed for cash.
  22. CASH PRIZES applicable ONLY when there are five or more entries for winners and ten or more for runners-up in each category.
  23. Feedback: Judges will be available during the show to discuss your results. The judges' decision is final. There will be no feedback given/available after the show. It is not permitted to record feedback given by the judges.
  24. Intellectual Property Rights: By entering the competitions and allowing work to be shown at the Weikfield India Bake Show, PLEASE BE AWARE that photographs or copies may be taken by any person or visitor and realise that your designs/work may be reproduced, but The Great Bake Shows Events, HomeBakers.co.in or its employees or organisers or judges will not be liable in any way for this infringement should this happen.
  25. Photographs: Photographs of competition entries may be used online by The Great Bake Shows Events and HomeBakers.co.in or printed in future relevant publications as agreed with The Great Bake Shows Events and HomeBakers.co.in the management team.
  26. Terms and conditions are subject to change.
  27. These terms and conditions will apply to every person who registers as a participant.
  28. A registered participant in the Competition may participate in multiple OR All categories by paying an additional fee for each category.
